Acrylic on Canvas, 2020

Parallel_Final_M2020_SM.jpg

Acrylic on canvas, 2' x 10" x 1.5"

"Not one of us ever saw Olis again after his fall; in the place he was last seen, a lone Agave in bloom."

A technical study of water that used a rectangular canvas to aid in its composition. The scene depicts foliage, light, and rock to create a lush jungle to a cold transitioning into a shadowy eroded basin. I was originally inspired to paint a series of waterfalls I saw on a hike to Seven Pools on Maui. Over time the piece leaned toward less water, more stone.

This work was finished by commission for an East Austin Studio Tour 2019 patron. Thanks for reaching out and wanting to purchase it Greg - the agave was added for a customized flair.
